Welcome to the Family Support Services website. We believe that it is important for parents to know about and be involved in their child/ren's education, so we post monthly information about classroom and after-school activities.
Brookline Kindergarten Extended Day News
April was a busy month at Brookline. We learned about Thomas Jefferson, Wilbur Wright and Paul Revere as we commemorated each of their April birthdays.
Earth Day books and projects kept us busy as we celebrated Earth Day and helped us realize that Earth Day is something we need to be celebrating “every day”.
The month of May will be especially merry in our classroom as we prepare for our annual “Celebrate America” show. There will be lots of singing, dancing and other surprises for our parents as the children showcase what they have been learning about our great country. The event will take place in the Chatham Park School auditorium.
May and June also bring Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day (which means cards and special surprises for our moms, dads and grandparents). The children will learn how Mother’s Day and Father’s Day started and what states first celebrated the special days.
Lewis & Clark Day is May 14. This date offers a great opportunity to review what we have learned about the Louisiana Purchase, the Corps of Discovery and Sacagawea. We will also be armchair visitors to many of our National Parks. Finally we’ll top it all off with Memorial Day and Flag Day celebrations, and then…here comes summer!

Brookline Extended Day After School Program News
During the month of April we spent more time outdoors. The children had the option of participating in relay races, obstacle courses and organized kick-ball games. Our arts and crafts activities consisted of making bird feeders, sun catchers and tissue paper flowers.
Some of our craft activities for May and June will relate to Mother’s and Father’s Day. Children will honor their parents by making tissue paper flowers (for Mom) and cards and paper ties for all the fathers. During June, we are sure we’ll be spending lots of time outdoors. The children will have the option of participating in water play activities, organized sport games and outdoor themed crafts. We will be designing our own flip flops as well as decorating with sand art.
The Brookline staff always takes pleasure in working with our children and their families. We all learn and grow together, and especially enjoy seeing the children make so many friends.
As the school year comes to an end we wish the children and families a safe and happy Summer vacation! We look forward to seeing each of you again in September.
Sincerely,

A Safety Reminder – call when your child is absent
The Brookline classroom number is 610-853-3724. Please remember to call when your child will not be coming on a scheduled day. Whenever a child does not show up as expected, the teacher must devote time to locate him/her so as to be sure he/she is safe.
