Chatham Park Before and After School Program News

Spring is here, and summer is around the corner, so we are really enjoying this beautiful mild weather! 

In April we all appreciated the outdoor time we had, and enjoyed playing wall-ball, basketball, and “States-Tag”!  Miss Rebecca was also able to bring her craft-table outside, so that many of our students could work together to build a Papier-mache doll house.  Many creative hands have joined in this project, and we are very excited to see the finished product! 

Other fun projects for the month included a coffee filter fish craft, and our own Presidential Election that we held on Election Day.  Several students served as the “Election Committee” and they designed and handed out  the “ballots” to after care students and teachers.  After tallying the votes, our winner was Hillary Clinton.

In May and June, we are hoping to celebrate more beautiful weather by spending more time playing outside.  We will also be celebrating the wonderful Moms in our lives by doing special projects for Mother’s Day, which is May 11th.  Memorial Day falls on May 26th, so we will honor those who have served our country by doing some patriotic crafts. 

June will wrap up the school year, and maybe even wrap up some cool craft projects for Father’s Day, which falls on June 15th.  We are also hoping to celebrate the end of another wonderful school year with a “Make-your-own-ice-cream-sundae” party! 
                       
Special Dates to Remember:

May 9—In-service day (early dismissal)
May 26—Memorial Day (no school, no extended day)
June 12—Last day offtercare
June 13—Last day of school/early dismissal, Last day of Before Care!, No after-care.

As a reminder, if your child will be absent from Before or After care for any reason, please call the site at (610) 853-6887.  Also, if your child will be picked up by someone other than a parent, please give us a call or send in a note to let us know.  If this person is picking up your child for the first time, picture identification is necessary. 

Please make sure to check for any important information, as well as lost-and-found items, next to the sign-out sheets.   

Registration – Registration for the 2008-2009 school year is currently underway.  Registration forms can be obtained by calling the FSS office, or picked up at the sign-out table.

We have all enjoyed the time spent with our Before Care and After Care students this year!  We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer, and look forward to seeing you in September!

A Safety Reminder

Please remember to call when your child will not be coming on a scheduled day. It takes close to an hour each day to track down children who are expected in the program but who have not shown up. This takes a teacher away from the program and can create an unsafe situation. Please help us support the safety that you all value. The classroom number is 610-853-6887.
