Chatham Park Extended Day Before and After School Program News

It is hard to believe, but we are more than half-way through the school year! We hope everyone enjoyed those record-breaking snow days, but Spring will be very welcomed and appreciated when it arrives later this month!

In February we had many Valentine’s Day-related activities – including making woven hearts and Valentine’s Heart crowns. We also rang in the Chinese New Year by making Chinese New Year dragons. Some of the games we enjoyed were - Checkers, Apples to Apples, and of course Chess!

We also enjoyed physical games in the gym, including Dodge ball, Basketball, and we even had a Football Passing competition! Many of our students also enrolled in a weekly dance class with Ms. Elizabeth. The dance class will continue through March.

This March we will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with themed crafts, including a Leprechaun marionette and a four-leafed clover. We will also celebrate the arrival of spring by making a spring collage, butterfly fan, and by hosting an Extended Day ice-cream party! We continue to enjoy our physical activities like Octopus Tag, Dodge ball, and, of especially Basketball as we celebrate NCAA March Madness!

*March 4th—In-service day (early dismissal)
*March 5th—In-service day (no school)
March 14th—Daylight Savings Time starts (Spring Forward! Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead 1 hour)
*March 25th—In-service day (early dismissal)
*March 26th—In-service day (early dismissal)

*On in-service days, after-care is available for those who have signed up for the school-closing package.

As a reminder, if your child will be absent from Before or After care for any reason, please call the site at (610) 853-6887. Also, if your child will be picked up by someone other than a parent, please give us a call or send in a note to let us know. If this person is picking up your child for the first time, picture identification is necessary. Also, please make sure to check for any important information/lost and found items by the sign-out sheets.

A Safety Reminder – call when your child is absent

Whenever a child does not show up as expected, the teacher must devote time to locate him/her so as to be sure he/she is safe, so please remember to call when your child will not be coming on a scheduled day. We care about your children—so do let us know whenever we should not expect them to arrive at our after school program.

Licensing and Teacher Certification credentials

Extended Day programs are state licensed. All site directors and assistant teachers are certified.
