The Family Partnership Program is a voluntary home-visiting program that offers support to parents and their young children. We provide information and support for all aspects of parenting, including; child development, family assessment, home and child safety, and the coordination of services with healthcare providers and community support programs.

The program is part of a city-wide initiative to provide parenting assistance & advice to families with young children. Our goal is to mediate and address parenting problems early, so families do not have to be involved with the child protective service system later.

Family Support Services (FSS) offers the Family Partnership Program in conjunction with two other Child Welfare agencies; Caring People Alliance and Youth Service, Inc. FSS focuses its Family Partnership services primarily in Southwest Philadelphia.

Research has shown that the first years of life are most critical to a child's development. Family Partnership tries to keep this in mind as FSS social workers provide services to families. Our social workers try to support each child's caregiver in his or her effort to create a safe, stable, developmentally stimulating environment for children. They do this by providing parenting information and referrals to a wide variety of community resources.

Overall, the better a child's beginning, the better their chances for a successful and healthy adulthood.

The majority of funding for this program is provided by the Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Community-Based Prevention Services.
