Ithan Kindergarten Extended Day News

K-Club News
Dear Parents and Families,
Happy March!
February was a month of progress for all of us! We accomplished many new things and grew a great deal.
We worked hard on our handwriting skills through our daily journal writing. We also used word games to remember our "popcorn" words along with additional words we recognize by sight. Now we are moving on to "action" words and have enjoyed getting out of our seats to learn more about them!
In our math unit we conquered patterns and beginning addition skills.
During the month of March, we will continue working on our handwriting skills through brief writing assignments and by keeping up with our daily journals. We will be learning more about addition and subtraction in math as well!
Important Dates to Remember:
3/3/10—Half Day (conferences- FSS open for closing package students)
3/4/10-3/5/10—School Closed- Conferences- FSS open for closing package students
3/29/10-4/4/10—Spring Recess (FSS Closed)
Thank you to all of the parents and loved ones who participated in the "Book-N-Bag-It Lunch"! It was a great success and our students loved spending time with their family and friends
Sincerely,
Devin E. Dvorak

Ithan Extended Day After School Program News
Hello Parents,
We are all anxiously waiting for spring's arrival and we are now within reach of our goal. But, before we say good-bye to winter and hello to spring, we have a few celebrations to enjoy. On March 2nd we'll be celebrating Dr. Suess' Birthday and March 17th will bring St. Patrick's Day fun with holiday themed crafts and games.
Our March activities will also include another "winter camping day", in addition to some relay races, and a little "chicken limbo" dancing.
The first day of spring will be March 20th, and in its honor we are creating a spring mural that will hang in the hall. Likewise, we will be transforming our room from winter to spring with flowers and crafts.
Due to February's blizzard, we were not able to have Camille Williams visit us to highlight South Carolina in Stopping-by-the-States. Instead Camille will be doing that this month for us.
Nevada is also on our list this month for Stopping-by-the-States, and since Miss Kate and Miss Lauren are vacationing there they will be giving us highlights about the state when they return.
Nadia Grasso and her mom will be helping us with a "visit" to Morocco in Country-Close-Up.
We'd like to say "Thank you" to the children and parents who are helping with our state and country lessons; we really appreciate your participation.
Finally, congratulations to Helen Hu and Sidney Yarnell for winning the creative construction contest in February! And again—to Helen Hu—this time for winning the checkers tournament! Great job girls!
Thank you all for your continued support. Please remember to call with changes in pick-up or absences.
Sincerely,
Marge Cahill - Director Ithan Aftercare
Natalie Campanelie - Teacher Ithan Aftercare
Katelyn Larkin - Aide Ithan Aftercare
Lauren McNulty - Aide Ithan Aftercare
