Welcome to the Family Support Services website. We believe that it is important for parents to know about and be involved in their child/ren's education, so we post monthly information about classroom and after-school activities.
Ithan Kindergarten Extended Day News
April was a great month. We took our nature walk and enjoyed seeing the beautiful spring flowers everywhere. We saw that the landscape has changed dramatically since our Fall nature walk and we thought about what those changes meant. In the classroom we continued to work on our writing and mathematics skills and discussed the scientific process during science time.
I’m continuing with reading our Chapter books, and we’ll be traveling the globe before the year ends, making good use of our passports and recording various facts about the countries we visit.
Earth Day has meant exploration of our natural world, and beyond, with themes that include the ocean and our solar system.
If you have any questions, I am always available by phone or email. You can call the room at 610-525-0803 or email me @ devin_dvorak@yahoo.com.
Summer is just around the corner; it is hard to believe the year has gone by so fast.
Warmly,
Devin Dvorak (Ms. D J)
Site Director
Ithan Extended Day After School Program News
Hello Parents,
We have been having a wonderful time this spring at aftercare, and for the month of May we are planning to have a jump rope contest, talent show, a “catch day,” and a kite flying day. We are also making our own spin art, home-made play dough and our own "dirt" dessert.
We will "visit" the Dominican Republic in Country Close-Up during May, and New Mexico and Idaho will be the states we’re featuring in our "stopping by" activity.
As we wind down the school year, our June outdoor activities will keep us busy. We have some outdoor water fun planned, and we’ll be making water balloons and playing "spray bottle" tag. We will be playing at the "Big Kid" playground, too.
The final country we plan to “visit” this year will be Antigua, and our June Stopping by the States activity will feature California and Florida. We will finish the year with a farewell party on the 17th.
Finally, we want to thank all the parents who have helped us out during the year. We appreciate your on-going support, and hope you will share your feedback on the program with us. It has been a wonderful year. Have a safe and happy summer, and we'll see you next September!
Before we sign off for the year, we would like to commend Miss Lauren on her May 7th induction into the Phi Alpha Chapter (of the National Honor Society of Social Work) at Cabrini College. Miss Lauren will be graduating on May 20th, and has been accepted into the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She will be enrolling there this September and will pursue her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology! Congratulations Miss Lauren; we are proud of you!
We also wish to wish both Miss Natalie and Miss Kate good luck. Miss Natalie is pursuing a teaching position in the Philadelphia School District, while Miss Kate will be heading into her senior year at Penn State Brandywine.
Happy summer from all of us,
Happy Spring!
Sincerely,
Marge Cahill - Director Ithan Aftercare
Natalie Campanelie - Teacher Ithan Aftercare
Katelyn Larkin - Aide Ithan Aftercare
Lauren McNulty - Aide Ithan Aftercare
