Volunteer support forms the backbone of any non-profit organization, and Family Support Services (FSS) would like to thank the many community, school, corporate and University organizations and individuals who contribute to our programs each year through their volunteerism.
FSS Volunteers may contribute in many meaningful ways. Our Fairmount and Family School sites have been brightened by murals painted by University of the Arts, Agnes Irwin, and Episcopal Academy volunteers. Thanksgiving and holiday volunteers have collected collect thousands of meals and gifts which are delivered each November and December to families enrolled in FSS programs. FSS also collects in-kind gifts of toys, infant-supplies, books, clothing, or equipment for distribution to families who need them. Our technology fund has been the grateful recipient of computers and our administrative offices and sites have benefited from donated furnishings and other key equipment.
If you are interested in volunteering for FSS you may email the Development office at Development@FSSinc.org.
Long-term Volunteer Commitments – FSS’s center-based children’s programs welcome volunteers who are able to make a regular and sustained commitment to working with young children on-site.
Volunteer Projects - Volunteer groups can contribute to holiday food and children’s gift or clothing drives, sponsor an event, and participate in fundraising.

The FSS Service & Volunteer Program is designed to offer school-aged children an opportunity to experience a developmentally appropriate and guided personal experience in volunteerism through Family Support Services. This experience can involve the donation of time, experience in mentoring, job shadowing for high schools students, and limited fundraising or in-kind gift support for a worthy cause selected by the participating students or school. Elementary, middle and high-school volunteer projects are welcomed. FSS has worked with the Radnor Elementary School PTO, The Episcopal Academy, The Agnes Irwin, Shipley, and the Baldwin Schools, among others.
